Plumbing

Welcome!  This website is here primarily to showcase my people photography, since that’s one  of the things I love to do, and one of the things I hope to get some work doing!  However, I also have a love of shooting derelict things–landscapes, broken buildings, rusted out cars… anything that has a human stain, that shows evidence that someone was there once, and this is what was left behind.  I have so often found things that tell a story–a quickly abandoned trailer, a car left to rot, a bus resting mysteriously back in the woods.

Since the blog is my place to share what I’m thinking and what I’m shooting other than people, I thought it fitting that my first blog should feature some photos from the Old Murphy School in Durham.  This school was one of my very first photographic subjects, and I have returned a few times to shoot the exterior.  Recently, however, the property has been purchased and is now undergoing renovation.  I love that I had the opportunity to document it before its change, and I love that because of the renovation I had the opportunity to shoot inside the school a bit.  Sadly, many of the things that were probably inside have already been removed as the renovation moves along.  Still, I found some things to shoot, and enjoyed taking a little break from people photos.

I hope that you enjoy the photos you find on the site, and I hope to grow the site and the blog to include all of my more “serious” photography.  I also want to take a moment to thank Eli for building this new home for me.
