Always Photograph For Yourself

Though you may find yourself shooting photos for other people, always remember to shoot for yourself as well. Find those things that compelled you to pick up a camera in the first place. Photograph things that you love, and don’t worry if anyone else will love them. Remember that even though you have a hundred photos of the same subject, you don’t have this photo of that subject at this particular time. With Isaac, I have to remind myself of this constantly–I have hundreds of photos of Isaac, but they are all different, because he keeps growing and changing (and so do I).

Shoot even though you’re the only one that looks at your photos, the only one that reads your blog, the only one that seems to be paying attention. That’s what marks you, and that’s where you’ll find the soul of your photos.
