Jessica + Tim – Wedding Day!
Once we get into the fall, everything always gets a little crazy as we head into the holidays. In October, I had the privilege of photographing Jessica and Tim’s wedding at the Flanders Art Gallery in Raleigh. Even though their wedding was well in advance of the holidays proper, crazy could definitely apply to the day’s start.
When I arrived at Flanders Gallery, Jessica arrived shortly thereafter, and proceeded to tell me how, that morning, her dressmaker had arrived without a finished dress! After much negotiating, hair-pulling, and frantic calling, Jessica ended up with a new dress on a Sunday afternoon, with mere hours till her wedding. Had she not told me about the morning’s events, I never would have known there’d been any hiccup at all, cool as she was.
Thankfully, that was the extent of the drama, unless maybe you count Jennifer, the bride’s sister, trying to set at least fifty sparklers on fire at once.
One of my favorite parts about photographing weddings is getting to know the bride and groom, and having a small window into their lives and their families. It is a special day for a lot of people, and I love watching the emotions, the happiness, the excitement, and recording it all for people to enjoy over and over. In the case of Jessica and Tim, I was also fortunate to make some new friends with whom I hope to build a lasting relationship.
