Brunch at the Goat Lady Dairy

Goat Lady Dairy

Goat Lady Dairy

Yesterday, Hanna, Isaac, and I went to the Goat Lady Dairy with my dad and stepmom.  We gave them this trip as a gift for Christmas in 2007, and were finally able to get a reservation that worked with our schedule now, two years later!  So we all piled in the car and drove out close to Climax, NC (west of Siler City), enjoying great, incongruous scenery–don’t worry, I’ll be back for photos of that–on the way.

We were treated to a lovely four course meal on a gorgeous day, with plenty of goat products (mostly cheese and yogurt).  Afterward, we got a tour of the farm and an educational lecture on sustainable farming and value added products.

I of course brought my camera, but the light was pretty harsh, so I’m not incredibly pleased with the photos.  Still, I wanted to share a few of them.  For anyone that’s interested in eating a good meal that is organic and almost 100% grown/raised within a half-mile of where you sit to eat, you should check out the Goat Lady Dairy.  Just know that they can only host a small number of people, and it’s not every day, so it may take awhile to finally get in.  I definitely think it was worth it–the food was great, but I would have gone just for the experience.
