Weddings, and a shot of Lila!

Lila has nothing to do with weddings (not for a good while, anyway), but I needed a photo!,

Lila has nothing to do with weddings (not for a good while, anyway), but I needed a photo!

There’s not been a whole lot of exciting things going on for me in the photography world, so the blog has gone a bit neglected.  Fortunately, some things are starting to fall into place, so I have something to write about.  First, there is the subject of this post: weddings!  Specifically, I went from nothing to two second shooting jobs, an offer for a solo wedding (that I had to decline… :(), and a possible wedding for a cousin’s friend, if they see this site and like the photos (I’d love to do it, friend of Rachel!)

The other things I’d like to post about (but not here, or today) are several exciting developments in the photography world–specifically, the emergence of some really compelling micro 4/3rds cameras from Panasonic and Olympus, the announcement of the Leica M9, and the announcement of the Canon 7D–a camera that suggests, at least on paper, that Canon is finally serious about giving us a smaller pro body.  I can’t afford the Leica, I’m not in the market for a micro 4/3rds system yet, and the 7D isn’t the camera for me, but they are all important developments in their own ways.

Back to the weddings!  Really, I don’t have a whole lot to say about them, other than I am excited to be shooting a couple more weddings with Rachel–I felt like we worked well together on our first wedding, without ever having worked together.  If you’re reading this, Rachel, I still want to see the final photos from that wedding!  I was also flattered that Lisa, Tamara Lackey’s studio director, solicited me to shoot a wedding solo for them!  I just wish that I could make it work, but I am already taking a lot of time off at the end of September (we are headed to Asheville on Sunday for our anniversary), and some more time in October (one wedding, and then attending my friend Morgan’s wedding in Wilmington).

It’s strange how this round of opportunities all came in a cluster, and fortunately worked out pretty serendipitously.  :)
