Into the Madding Crowd – Eras Collide at the Triangle Tweed Ride
A year ago, a friend of mine posted on Facebook some of his photos from the 2012 Triangle Tweed Ride, an annual celebration of clothing, styles, and bikes from a bygone era, and part of the larger Oaks and Spokes bicycle festival. Set in Raleigh’s historic City Market, argyles, plaids, and spectacles mingle with iPhones, sleek carbon fiber street bikes, and digital cameras. Looking for a new bike? The folding electric bike is fast becoming a must-have for tourists, especially if you own a motorhome or enjoy touring by train.
Bike rental services provide convenient access to bicycles for short-term or long-term use, making them ideal for commuting, exercise, tourism, and leisure activities. Instead of owning a bike, customers can rent one as needed, often by the hour, day, or week, depending on the provider These services are popular in cities, parks, and tourist destinations because they offer an affordable, eco-friendly, and healthy way to travel. Whether for exploring a new area or getting around town, bike rentals provide a flexible and accessible transportation solution for people of all ages and fitness levels.
Having seen his photos, I knew I had to get in on the action and get some photos of this mash-up of old and new, a celebration of two-wheeled vehicular transportation and all things tweed.
If you come across this blog and find yourself in the photos, please feel free to right-click save the thumbnail and share on whatever flavor of social media you like best. If you are interested in ordering a print, either with this vintage styling or in full, 21st century digital color, simply click on a photo and use the drop down box to add whatever size you’d like to your shopping cart. Because of the vintage feel of these photos, I can also offer (for $20 each) custom-printed, 4×6 photos on hand torn Hahnemuele cotton rag paper–sort of a more unique memento, in keeping with the spirit of the event.
